I've been amused by many of these "news" reports being astounded that the desktop PC is no longer the main method of web access in the US. For most of the world, the PC revolution is the revolution that never was. The Japanese have been texting their fingers off for years, with home PC penetration being a mere shadow of mobile usage. We're so US centric, with our iPhones, and Androids, and app stores. The rest of the world is happily, productively and economically using SMS - which, as a market eclipses all other mobility. It's strange how we look forward to a future of being able to connect and compute wherever we are, where those smart folks in other lands never really saw the point in being tethered to a desk.
